5ks, Ironman 70.3s, Road Races, and More! Paragon Stretches Wide

On Saturday morning at the Luke Holler 5k, we remembered the sacrifices that have been made for our freedom. This race was the 3rd annual memorial "Fun Run/Walk" in honor of Luke who was KIA 11/2/06. Many Paragon athletes participated, and all proceeds went to "The Recon Sniper Foundation" and local Veterans Organizations. Ildar Mannapov placed 3rd overall in a time of 20:54.

In Chicago, Kathleen O'Shea raced the Miles for Melanoma 5k on Saturday. This was another fundraising event, with nearly $175,000 being raised for Melanoma research.

Sarah Rasco placed 2nd in the Corporate Cup 5k on Saturday. The San Antonio Sports Corporate Cup brought together employees from 82 local businesses and organizations for "a day of blood-pumping fitness, friendly competition and employee camaraderie."

In the hills around San Marcos, Anna Kurz and Alli Koch raced the San Marvelous Road Race on Saturday. Both finished in the top 15 in the field sprint finish.

On Sunday in Victoria, Canada, Raul Correa and Diana Ruderman swam, biked, and ran to the Ironman 70.3 finish. The breathtaking course won both "Best Overall Swim" and "Best Overall Run" from the Athlete's Choice Awards in 2017. Correa finished in a time of 5:19:54 and Ruderman crossed the line in 5:41:05, earning her a top 10 finish in her age group. For Ruderman, it was the second hardest bike course she's raced for a 70.3, but she still earned herself a 4th place ranking for the bike leg. Ruderman has been recovering from a hamstring injury and a recent cold.

Sunday morning was also our 2nd race of the Paragon Splash & Dash series. We had over 45 kids participate! It was a beautiful morning to swim and run at the JCC and Hardberger Park, and the kids walked away with T-shirts, badges, water flasks, finisher medals, awards certificates, and new Paragon sunglasses! Keep it cool this summer, kids. A special thanks again to Kathleen O'Shea, Realtor, for sponsoring the entire Splash & Dash series!

Also this weekend, Quinn and Sawyer Stolarczyk competed at their first long course swim meet of the season. Sawyer raced his way to an "A" time in the 50 freestyle.
