January Athlete Spotlight - Meet Robin

Meet our January Athlete Spotlight, Robin Golden. Robin has been an endurance athlete since she was a young girl. She has an especially impressive running background, and now she's focusing on consistency in the next stage of life.

Age: 49

Occupation: Mom, Wife, Adventurer!

How long have you been swimming, biking, or running? I've been running and swimming since I was 8 with a big hiatus from 16-35. Cycling since 2008. I’ve also competed in a few short distance triathlons.

Why do you like endurance sports? I loved distance running from a young age. We ran day and night. It seemed the further I went, the better I was. I once read, the draw to endurance sports is The WALL, The PIT, The Abyss. And, I agree.

What is your favorite training or racing event, and why? My favorite race used to be 10ks. Long enough to beat the sprinters!.

What do you want to be when you grow up? I’m doing it!

Favorite post-workout or race meal: I like running longer, so I can enjoy waffles with almond butter and bananas.

What is one recent accomplishment you are proud of? I started out run/walking in June 2018. I am now running more consistently and it’s been great!

Tell us something no one knows about you: I am in the Hall of Fame in Newark, NJ. Our XC team was State Champs, with several of us girls running under 18 minute 5ks that year.
