Rocking, Rolling, and Running

This past weekend, thousands of running shoes hit the pavement for a variety of San Antonio Rock 'n Roll races: 5k, 10k, Marathon, and Half Marathon.

The races started off Saturday with the 5k and 10k. Sarah Rasco and her son, Solon, raced the 5k together. Kathleen O'Shea ran the 10k with a new personal record and a Top 10 finish in her age group.

Sunday morning, over 10,000 people crossed the Half, Relay, and Full Marathon finish line. Among them were 17 Paragon Training or UTSA athletes: Antonia Bravo, Raul Correa, Travis Decker, Helen Konduris, Liza Lam, Evan Landez, Renee Patlan, Lexa Rijos, Elvia Rodriguez, Austin Sobczak, Agustin and Beatriz Salvat, April Smith, Tiffany Tabourne, Carlos Torres, Carlos Velez, and Paul Wilson.

It was a perfect day for running, with a shield of fog in the late morning and temperatures that stayed cool into the afternoon. Many of our runners set new personal records. Austin Sobczak also ran his first marathon!

Travis Decker ran his way up to 5th place overall! He was 3rd place non-elite! That was accomplished with a stellar time of 2:43:37--a 6:15 per mile pace.
