McIntyre competes with the best at Xterra World Championship

Team Paragon athlete Jason McIntyre raced the Xterra World Championship this last Sunday. It was a warm, sunny day in Kapalua, Maui where over 800 athletes from 52 countries gathered to test their endurance and skills against the world's best off-road triathletes. The race is a 1-mile ocean swim, a 20-mile mountain bike ride, and a 6.5-mile trail run to close. With over 4,000 ft of combined climbing on the bike and run course, the athletes had a challenging morning ahead of them. Just 10 days out from this big race, McIntyre crashed while riding down a steep hill. He flipped off his bike, cracked his helmet, and incurred some significant bruising on his chest and shoulder. McIntyre overcame the physical and mental challenge of his recent crash, finishing 40th in his age group.

Also on Sunday, Team Paragon athletes Carlos Torres, Ildar Mannapov, Justin McKenzie, and Mark Saroni competed in Ironman Austin 70.3. They were also joined by Max Budovskiy, a friend from Tampa that completed his first Ironman 70.3. The athletes braved a cold morning, with temperatures under 40 degrees before the start. Torres raced his way to a new personal record for the Austin 70.3 course, and Mannapov broke the 6-hour mark in a 70.3 for the first time.
