1 Kona Qualifier, 6 First-Time IRONMAN Finishers, and 3 More PR Performances!
It was a stellar weekend for the Paragon Training crew at IRONMAN Arizona. We had 6 first-time IRONMAN finishers: Raul Correa, Dale Londos, Elvia Rodriguez, Alberto Rodriguez, Diana Ruderman, and Agustin Salvat! Kelly McConie, Ildar Mannapov, Justin Nix, and Jose Vaquedano were our returning IRONMAN competitors. Ildar, Justin, and Jose all set huge new personal records (PRs)! The time drops from previous PRs were 35, 75, and 82 minutes, respectively. That's an impressive show

Catching up with Jason McIntyre, Xterra World Championship
Jason McIntyre raced the Xterra World Championship last month in Maui, Hawaii. We've caught up with him to hear about the race, as well as his experience with off-road triathlon. Off-road triathlon, of which Xterra is one branded category, is a niche in multi-sport that is not as familiar to many of us as biking and running on pavement. How did you become interested in off-road triathlon? I first became interested in off-road triathlon in 2015 after getting back into mountain

Paragon Training - [3rd] Largest Triathlon Club in Waco
Team Paragon had over 30 athletes racing this past weekend in Waco, Texas for the Ironman 70.3, which made us the third largest triathlon club competing in the event. [Ironman updated their club participants from the race on the 29th, listing us as third. Previously, we posted that Paragon Training was first or second in number of competitors]. With numerous first-timers and many more returners, it is an achievement for the team to celebrate. Paragon Training will move from D

10k in Bali, Ironman in Texas
After a quiet, relaxing, carb-loading Easter weekend with family and friends two weeks ago, our athletes switched gears this past weekend and were racing all over the globe to burn off those extra calories. Our athletes packed their bags, put their goggles on, and laced up their shoes to show off their hard training. All distances were covered from 10k to full Ironman! We couldn’t be happier of the efforts our members put out. Ironman Texas Pablo Bueno proved that a full dist

Making important choices
There are many reasons why we do different things in life. There are different paths to follow and new things to try. About 9 years ago, I started experiencing excruciating pain that wouldn’t let me move my legs. I had to use a wheel chair and was unable to walk for days. Being born with a double scoliotic arch (S shape) in my back, living a sedentary lifestyle, and being a little overweight all compounded to cause the intense sciatic pain I was experiencing. After many tests

Ruderman and Correa Race on the World Stage in Denmark
It takes determination and guts. First, to train and race your way to a World Championship event. Second, to brave a swim with jellyfish. Diana Ruderman and Raul Correa are two of our most determined and gutsy triathletes. This past weekend, the couple competed in the 2018 Fyn ITU World Championships in Denmark. The festivities lasted all week with various races that brought together some of the world's top competitors. Both Ruderman and Correa qualified for their respective

From ER to Ironman
It is the longest day for a triathlete: 2.4 miles in the water, 112 miles on the bike, and 26.2 miles of feet pounding the pavement. Crossing the Ironman finish line is no small task. It is especially no small task when you do it 14 months after being T-boned by a truck on your bicycle. Team Paragon triathlete Jorge Garcia is a warrior through and through. From the battlefields in Iraq to his quest for Ironman, Garcia's fortitude and determination in all of life are inspiring

Team Paragon athlete Jason McIntyre raced the Xterra World Championship this last Sunday. The race is a 1-mile ocean swim, a 20-mile mountain bike ride, and a 6.5-mile trail run to close. Strong finishes at Sprint Worlds, State Road Race, and Disco Tri
Paragon had another athlete compete in a world championship this weekend. Andrew Joy represented the USA as he traveled to Rotterdam, Netherlands to race the ITU Sprint Triathlon World Championship. It was Joy's first time doing a draft-legal triathlon (in his qualifying race in New Orleans in 2016, the swim was cancelled due to strong winds and choppy water, making it a duathlon instead). Joy used his experience from crit racing to fight his way from pack to pack during the
