O'Shea Achieves Life-Time Best at Nationals

Up north in Spokane, Washington, Kathleen O'Shea once again stunned us all. O'Shea was competing in the USATF Masters Outdoor Nationals July 26-28. Her first race was the 400m Dash. It didn't go as well as she had hoped, but she kept her head up and began focusing on her next race, the 200m Dash. O'Shea was racing against some of the best Masters women in the world. The tension was high and the competition was stiff. World records were broken. O'Shea's performance is no less impressive. This sprinter just clocked in her two best 200m times EVER! She broke 32 seconds in the 200m, qualified for finals, and beat her previous best times from 3 years ago. Way to go, Kathleen!

July 29th concluded our summer youth aquathlon series, the Paragon Splash & Dash, presented by Kathleen O'Shea, Realtor. We were excited to see our highest participation numbers yet - at 68 registrants! The kids had fun seeing how much they could improve over last year or the beginning of the season, and they enjoyed some friendly competition with each other. We believe there is a need for more multi-sport events like this for our San Antonio youth, and we're already getting ready for next year. Special thanks to Black Tie Affairs Catering for Sponsoring Race #4. Each registrant received a swim cap at this race, as well as a lot of other neat gear. We also wish to thank the Barshop Jewish Community Center, Dulce Bakery, Mark Purnell at Ispeakforyou.net TV Races and Events, and USA Triathlon for being supportive sponsors throughout the series. And of course, we couldn't have done it without our volunteers from UTSA Triathlon and Broadway Bank. Keep swimming and running, kids!

This past weekend, Paragon had a great showing at the One Two Tri in San Marcos. Carlos Torres went into the final race of the series with two 2nd Place Overall finishes. He did it again at Race #3! Carlos Miranda narrowly missed 3rd Overall, but still made it on the podium as 1st in Age Group. Alfonso Campa also podiumed, taking 3rd Place in the same age group as Miranda. Jacob Campa, Alfonso's 12 year-old son, finished with a 2nd Place podium spot, despite a mistake on the bike that sent him for an extra 6 miles. You've all set high standards for the rest of us!
