July Athlete Spotlight - Meet Beatriz Salvat

Meet Beatriz Salvat. And you'll soon be laughing or smiling. Beatriz swims with Paragon's Adult Swim Club and she always brings positive energy to practice. We love having her as part of Team Paragon. Let's cheer her on to Ironman Arizona! She'll be racing her first full distance event in November.

Age: 46

Occupation: I work as a Relationship Manager for a Mutual Fund Company: Franklin Templeton Investments. I’ve worked there for 15 years.

How long have you been doing triathlons? Believe it or not I started doing triathlons because a friend offered me a $25.00 coupon for TriRock in Austin in 2015. Who would’ve known that I would end up spending (investing) thousands more in my hobby!! Back then my only interaction with the pool always involved a Piña Colada, so I started with swimming lessons, bought a bike, fell more times that I would like to admit learning how to use the clips, and started with the obsession!

Why do you like triathlons? Running and Triathlons changed my life completely. I was a late starter in sports and oh how I wished I would have done it sooner! Nevertheless triathlon has shown me that it is never too late in life to try something new, to try a new challenge and to feel that you become someone better when you push past the comfort zone and that you grow as a person every time that you go out there and accomplish your goal, even if it is your Sunday long run. But most importantly it makes me feel better, stronger and a more fulfilled person and that I am a good example for my boys!

Favorite post-workout or race meal: This might haunt me next year but I LOVE the vegetarian Hamburger at The Twisted Root in Lubbock, TX! Second year going there after the race… When I am in San Antonio I love some Fish Tacos from Food Trucks!

What do you want to be when you grow up? A Faster Athlete, and a Freestyle Skier

Tell us something no one knows about you: I like to sing and I do not care that I am real bad at it! And I am actually a good cooker!

Make sure to send your pictures from training and racing to: so we can showcase all the rad stuff you guys do.
